Myron Eric Woods
Myron Eric Woods was born on August 10, 1957, to the Marzette Woods Sr. (deceased)
and Blondie Woods (deceased), in Mobile, Alabama. Myron was the second of three
children born of this union. However, Marzette Woods, Sr. had a son from a previous
marriage, Marzette Woods, Jr. (deceased), so Myron is the third child of Marzette
Woods, Sr.
Myron’s formal education began in kindergarten at Holmes St. Baptist Church. He later
attended George Washington Carver School during the first and second grade.
Myron was baptized in February of 1965 at Holmes St. Baptist Church of Prichard,
Alabama. His Godparents were Robert Grayson (deceased) and Lucille Grayson
(deceased) of Prichard, Alabama.
The Woods family moved from Prichard, Alabama to Rancho Cordova, California in
August of 1965, when Myron was eight years old. The Woods family joined Cordova
Baptist Church in 1965, and Myron never moved his membership.
In California, Myron was educated in the Folsom Cordova Unified School District, where
he attended White Rock Elementary School, Mitchell Jr. High School, Mills Jr. High
School, and Cordova High School, where he graduated with the Class of 1975. Myron
was an active youth. He bowled, played baseball, tennis, fished, camped, cycled,
sledded, and played softball.
While in high school, Myron participated in the Regional Occupational Training Program
at Cordova High School, where he worked in the Mather Air Force Base cafeteria.
Myron developed a love for cooking during this time and developed his cooking talents.
Myron was an excellent cook, and anyone who tasted his cooking could attest to that.
After high school, Myron attended American River Junior College (ARJC), where he
initially planned to study cafeteria management. However, after a brief stint with the
Franchise Tax Board (FTB) during tax season, he decided to make state government
his career vocation.
Myron’s career spanned 36 years with the State of California, where he worked with the
FTB, State Teachers Retirement System, and the Department of Health Services. He
retired from state service in 2016.
Afterwards, he began working part-time for the Sacramento River Cats, where he
worked in Guest Services. While there, he was recognized and honored by the River
Cats during one of the games for his excellent work.
Myron was a very generous man, helping people whenever and wherever he could.
Before his illnesses, he was known to assist several of his friends and acquaintances
with moving. He participated in the Big Brothers of America Program, where he was a
Big Brother to a young man named Mario Hunter. Myron and Mario were featured in
Community Calendar section of the Sacramento Bee. Myron has also donated to
several charities.
The Lord called Myron home on December 28, 2024, around 10:00 pm. Those left to
cherish his memory are Marina M. Woods (sister), Malvero L. Woods (brother), Betty
Woods (sister-in-law), Marzette Woods III (nephew) and wife Brenda Woods, Jason Eric
Woods (nephew), Lorrin Cassandra Woods (niece), Rosalind McDowell (niece), Melissa
Burno (niece) and spouse Danny Burno, Jermaine Turner (nephew), Jahnathan Woods
(great nephew), Marzette Woods IV (great nephew), Daniel Woods (great nephew),
Naomi Woods (great niece), Willie Martin (uncle) and a host of cousins, relatives,
friends, and coworkers past and present.
